For Victor Balaguer, the guitar is not just an instrument—it’s a way of life. His music flows naturally from the strings, shaped by years of experience, refined technique, and an ever-deepening connection to his craft. Combining Spanish traditions with a range of global guitar styles, Victor’s music is a constant evolution of exploration, passion, and creativity.

Victor’s musical journey began at the age of nine in the Netherlands, where a fun and enthusiastic teacher sparked his love for the guitar. It wasn’t long before his steady dedication turned into a lifelong passion, setting the stage for his unique musical path.

However, like the winding roads of life, Victor’s journey was not without pauses. When formal lessons ended, the guitar took a backseat, as school and friends became his focus. But the creative spark never faded, and it wasn’t long before a creative renaissance reignited his love for music.

While studying Comic Art in Brussels, Belgium, Victor discovered the world of gypsy jazz. This liberated, improvisational approach to music transformed his relationship with the guitar, blending the soulful freedom of jazz with deep harmonic theory. Inspired by the legendary Django Reinhardt, he embraced a new world of musical possibilities.

After years of playing steel-string guitars, Victor felt a powerful call to return to the nylon-string classical guitar. Embracing fingerstyle technique, he uncovered a whole new realm of expression, unlocking even more freedom in his playing.

In 2009, Victor’s journey took another bold step forward—composition. No longer confined to any one genre, he began to craft original music that reflected his diverse influences and unique artistic voice. His compositions transcend boundaries, drawing listeners into a world of emotion and storytelling, capturing the full spectrum of human experience.

In 2022, Victor released Sueños de Guitarra, a deeply personal collection of original compositions. Though released quietly, it speaks volumes about his dedication to creating music that reflects his artistic journey. Blending classical, jazz, and Spanish influences, the album offers an intimate, evocative listening experience that is uniquely his own.

Victor’s music cannot be easily compared to any one style. It’s a personal expression, blending traditional influences while forging a fresh, intimate sound. Each piece invites listeners to discover something new, free from expectations and boundaries.

Today, Victor performs in a wide variety of venues—from intimate house concerts to larger spaces like theatres, churches, and lounges.
